Men, Alzheimer’s and 2-1-1 VIRGINIA
So often in life, we are faced with difficult decisions. Children, who were once dependent and taken care of, are now the caretakers of their parents. This transition and reversal of roles can be very difficult, especially if the loved one has Alzheimer’s, a progressively fatal brain disease. This disease affects memory, thinking, and behavior. It is the most common form of dementia among our senior citizens today. There is no cure, but symptom treatment is available. Continued...

Men, Diabetes, and 2-1-1 VIRGINIA
According to the American Diabetes Association, 1.6 million new cases of diabetes were diagnosed in people aged 20 years or older in 2007. Diabetes has been an increasing health issue among all populations and demographics, especially within the Hispanic/Latino community. Another national survey, broken down into prevalence by race/ethnicity, found that 10.4% of Hispanics have been diagnosed with diabetes. Continued...

Designated as an Area Agency on Aging for thirty-one years by the Virginia Department for the Aging, the Prince William Area Agency on Aging serves older adults and their caregivers in Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.
